Humantay Lake Tour is an ideal one day getaway from Cusco city. Humantay Lake or the Laguna Humantay is a turquoise lagoon located in Mollepata district on the foot hills of a mountain named after the lake. The origin of the lake is from glaciers fed by the melting snow of the mountain that towers to 5,450 meters above the sea level. This is the first campsite of the renowned 5 days’ Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu.
The hike up to the lagoon from Sorayapampa takes about an hour and a half.
The pristine landscape including the Salkantay Mountains (6,271 meters) that surrounds this stunning lagoon is a charming sight that you should not miss while in Cusco.
